I must recommend the Oberoi ( http://www.oberoihotels.com/oberoi_delhi/index.asp ) and Leela ( http://www.theleela.com/hotel-gurgaon.html ). Both are terrible from a miles/points perspective, but I have had enjoyable stays at both.

The Delhi Oberoi is in the middle of town, right next to an amazing golf course. A co-worker learned that you can slip over from the hotel early in the morning and get in an amazing round before breakfast without any trouble. It's my understanding that it takes a bit more planning to book a tee time later in the day.

Some friends absolutely love the Ashok ( http://www.theashok.com/ ), which is also in the middle of town, but every time I think of booking there, they are hosting some large event.

My work takes me to Gurgaon, so the Leela is my new option for business trips. It's attached to, but not inside a giant mall. The Leela upgraded me into a suite on my last visit simply based on my length of stay.

If the Leela is booked and I wanted to be in Gurgaon, I would also look at the Trident ( http://www.tridenthotels.com/gurgaon/index.asp ). It's a beautiful property.

Do be aware that many of the hotels in India, on top of the crazy room tax situation, have rather high internet charges. Oberoi has iPass, but Leela charges 551INR per day for access.

I enjoy the podcast. Wanted to point out a nice SPG property in Mumbai, the ITC Grand Central. Not in the best location but closer to the sites than hotels near the airport. I received a great platinum suite upgrade and overall great service. Here's a link to a trip report about it on Flyertalk. It also includes the ANA all business class 737 service Mumbai-Narita. Thought you'd find these interesting in planning Mumbai trips. That said, I would choose the Taj in Mumbai for a personal trip if I could get a good rate!
