After last year's great trip to Hualalai, we decided to try something different and head east this year for the holidays. We're heading about 7,000 miles east...to the Persian Gulf!
Whilst an unusual location for American holiday-makers, friends from nearly everywhere else in the world seem to end up visiting the Gulf. And nearly all enjoy themselves. I've been to the region on business before - I quite enjoyed my prior visits.
Now, it is time to take the entire family. Our kids will be old enough to appreciate the differences from our generally charming life in Fairfield County, CT (let the movie "Ice Storm" conjure up some images! ;) )...yet still be able to have fun at waterparks, on rollercoasters and on camel rides.
This year's trip is entirely in premium cabins...and flights paid for entirely with points (on low miles awards!). $30k of airfare avoided. All those runs to CVS don't seem so wasted now.
I'll try to post a report of two from the field - but will definitely get together a comprehensive trip report upon my return.

Thanks for reading this year. I wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
