Oshkosh EAA Airventure 2011 photos: part 2

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have lots of photos from my visit to Oshkosh for EAA Airventure 2011.  This post contains photos of some military aircraft mostly from the afternoon airshow. My previous post contained photos of modern commercial aircraft and acrobatic planes from my visit to EAA in Oshkosh.   My next post will include lots of photos of the 787 Dreamliner.

Onto the airshow:

Model 75 trainers

The theme of EAA Airventure this year was "Centennial of Naval Aviation", so these were featured in the airshow.  These are F4F, I beleive.

Soviet Yak-9 fighter

Corsair in Marines scheme.

Corsair takeoff

Hawker Sea Fury in colors of the Australian Defence Forces.

P-38 on display

P-38 banking during airshow

C-47, aka DC-3

C-45 on takeoff

One of many P-51s in Oshkosh.

B-29 "FiFi" preparing to take off.  This is supposedly the only remaining B-29 that is still flyable.

Bombs away!  The B-29 was intended as a high altitude bomber, but that doesn't quite work for an airshow.

Some of the pyro used in during the airshow.  A bit cheesy, but popular with the crowd.

Various planes in formation, showing just small piece of the activitity during the show.

There were also a few more modern planes in the show and on display.

F-86 Sabre

CT-133 trainers from the Royal Canadian Air Force

AV-8B Harrier doing a vertical landing.

Finally a preview of my final post from Oshkosh....

Oshkosh_787 teaser

The 787 was pushed to the runway then taxied to the other and and took off.  This photo shows it after push, with the Salto Sailplane being towed in the foreground.

Sorry for the suspense...my next post will be exclusively the 787, I promise!

The P47 is a P-38. Very good pictures. Thank you,
