Kauai by Helicopter

I did extensive research before visiting Kauai and one activity was consistently recommended: helicopter tour.  After comparing reviews of various tour companies I settled on Blue Hawaiian.  I found a great deal online for $161/person on the Eco-Star tour.  An experienced pilot guided the 55-minute ride in an American Eurocopter ECO-Star helicopter.  The pilot, Kevin, provided historical background as we got up-close to the most remote regions of the “Garden Isle.”  The helicopter donned floor to ceiling glass with a maximum capacity of six passengers.  Kevin was energetic and knowledgeable, while encouraging interaction from us on a two-way radio.  He also made sure to circle each landmark to give everyone a chance to experience the amazing panoramic views. I learned more in the one-hour tour than I did studying tour guides.  With only 10% of the island accessible by car, a helicopter tour is the ideal way to gain a true appreciation for the islands geographical brilliance.

Glad you got to do a helicopter tour in one of the best places in the world to do so! Where did you find such a low price for the tour? That is such a low price. I am researching flights on Kauai and didn't know that the Blue Hawaiian helicopters had floor to ceiling windows. I thought those were only on AStars like Jack Harter Helicopters and a few other companies fly. How was the glare from the windows? I am a photographer and also considering the Jack Harter no-doors tour.

Chris- The tour price was a special Blue Hawaiian offered on their website. I have not seen it that low since. The glare was pretty bad. About half of my 60 pictures had too much glare to use. The tour guides knowledge and views were well worth the money though.
