Delta Middle Seat Love

I had a flight on Monday using same-day confirmed (awesome Diamond perk), but flying standby because the flight I wanted was oversold.  As soon as I arrived at the SkyClub they confirmed my seat, which was ironic because five minutes earlier the gate agent said it was impossible.  Needless to say I got on my flight to DTW and was upgraded on my second leg to PHX.  On my flight to DTW I got stuck in a middle seat, but they put me to an exit row to avoid complete misery.  I honestly didn’t think anything of it I was just glad I had a seat. 

Fast-forward a day.  I open my email to see this from Delta apologizing for the inconvenience.

The 500 miles aren’t buying me an award ticket to Hawaii or anything (it’s actually 1/50th of what I need for a free flight), but it’s the thought that counts.  I continue to be awed by the level of service I receive from Delta as a Diamond Medallion member.

Partner awards are your best bet to find anything at the low level. V Australia or maybe Air France are good options, but I'm also tempted to catch a Korean Air A380 in Business.

@Brad, fortunately that Korean Air A380 will be getting easier, as they are going to be flying it to ATL soon.

Hello Jamie. I am pleased that Delta took the best care of you possible. I have had so many medallion members on my aircraft that I had one in the last row that didn't even recline! To say I was shocked is the least you could think. Needless to say, he was treated like a king by our crew!
