Part II: My first Flight EVER On United IAH-SAN

2012-08-10-17.28.24

After my short hop from Birmingham, Alabama to Houston, I had a 1 hour layover and then was on my way home to San Diego. I landed at Terminal B and had to transfer to terminal C. I honestly thought an hour lay over would be plenty of time, but I found myself somewhat rushed. The Houston airport is like everything else in Texas…BIG! It took me 45 minutes to get from my arriving flight to my connecting flight! Not to mention, terminal C was so crowded I had to honestly push my way pass ...

My first Flight EVER On United: BHM-IAH

2012-08-10-13.53.24

Birmingham Alabama—not the first place most would consider traveling to, however if you ever get stuck here for work there’s a few perks (but not many). The first perk would be the tiny Birmingham International Airport with its measly 13 gates (soon to be expanded). The airport is so small they only have one line for security which is later divided into 4 security screening points after having your Identification check!

Check in, 1 hour ...

Vietjet Fined for Inflight Bikini Show

Low Cost Asian carriers are known to be the Party Airlines in the sky! Airlines like Cebu Pacific in the Philippines have been known for performing the safety demonstration for the aircraft to pop songs along with performing dance routines midflight. Once on a Cebu Pacific flight I was on, they had people do Karaoke over the intercom. Slightly annoying, yes but since it’s something you’d never see in the US it was also somewhat entertaining! However, this week low cost carrier ...

My First Trip EVER on United

united-upgrd

Always being a Delta Guy, I recently decided to try out United. After attempting to get a status match and having more than an Epic Fail from United, I decided that United was not the airline for me and I was going to stick with Delta. Although, this week, I’m going to use United for a flight because the flight times just happened to be better and this week only (ok I've had elite status for 2.5 months with them, but have had no interest in flying them) I’ll be United Platinum and ...

Delta Cancels DTW-HND, Applies For SEA-HND

Delta Airlines has canceled serviced from Detroit to Tokyo Haneda as of Sept 30,2012 with little to no signs of resumption of this route or making the route seasonal from Detroit. In fact, Delta has not only canceled this route, but as of the 30th of July they have applied with the DOT to move the route from DTW to my hometown of Seattle.

At this time Delta has not been awarded the right to move the route from Detroit to Seattle, and any rerouting is being objected by competitors at ...

Virgin American Annouces Main Cabin Express Benefits

First Class

Virgin America has finally announced what their “Main Cabin Express” includes and how it works. I first made mention of VX Main Cabin Express when they first announced their Elite flyer program, noting then that it was probably just the front half of the aircraft reserved for their elite flyers and a way for them to make more money off of seats closer to the boarding door. Sure enough that’s exactly what it is! However, Main Cabin Express also comes with Priority ...

TSA Please ADD Precheck to Lindbergh Field

If there is anything I love about flying today it’s TSA Precheck! Sure I’m not a fan of the post 9/11 security check point personal or even the multitude of measures they’ve implemented trying to keep our skies “safe”. However TSA Precheck has remedied a part of my discontent for the TSA and allows me to actually get through security and on my way without the feeling of discontent towards a stranger I’ve never seen before and one I’ll probably never ...

It Pays to Be Loyal - Delta Lost My Upgrd?!?

Today was my first business trip since my move to San Diego. It was an odd day to fly (Saturday) for business, but I have a training at the butt crack of dawn in Birmingham, Alabama tomorrow and didn’t want to be sleepy from a red eye. Since my travel patterns have changed vastly and I do most work from home now, my status with Delta had dropped to only Gold. Yet despite this it was Saturday and I wasn’t competing for a few seats with all the Diamond and Platinum Elite. Upon ...
