Lufthansa puts new seats in Short/Medium range fleet.

By the end of 2011, all Lufthansa’s short/medium-range aircraft will be fitted with new seats, which are said to provide more legroom. The Recaro seat with its slim backrest will give passengers an extra 4 cm of room at knee level. But as we talked about in this week's travel podcast do these new seats look Comfortable? Take a look for yourself! I do have to say the new look is modern and I do like the look of the new cabin!  The new seats are lighter. Each seat weighs 10.87 kg.

Lufthansa also announced new on-board service passengers traveling in Economy Class on domestic German routes pax will be offered a snack, such as a muesli bar or chocolate, in addition to the usual selection of beverages. On cross-border European routes, shorter flights will provide sandwiches or wraps, passengers on flights lasting more than two hours can look forward to a hot meal.

Looks terribly uncomfortable, but I'm glad they're keeping (and improving) food in economy.

The real test will be comparing the comfort of these to the CRJ seats, or some of the 737 seats on DL and US

I'm flying LH regularly and got on the seats twice in July. When I first saw them I exactly thought the same as Matthew, but once I tested them I really can't complain. The seats are quite comfortable and in the economy there is bigger leg room now.

My conclusion: Seat quality is at least as good as with the old seats if not better and leg room is even better than with the old seats. I would also mention that the overall atmosphere is way better with the new seats.
