Great Hotel - Hilton Copenhagen Airport - A review

img_3054 The Hilton Copenhagen Airport hotel is truly a part of the airport, and is owned by the airport. The location of the hotel is just a few steps away from baggage claim (T3) and also right next to the Metro to the city center. If you are a Hilton Honors member this is your only option in Copenhagen and Denmark for that matter. The airport and hotel is a quick and easy 15-20 min train or metro ride to the center of the city. Making the Hilton a great pick for a late night arrival, the night before a early AM flight or like me a two night stay for a quick weekend get away. I arrived a little after 10pm on a friday night, checked in without any delay or issues, the front desk staff were all very professional and helpful. I was told as a Diamond I was upgraded to a King Executive Plus room, and was given all the details of the hotel.

After checking out my room, I made my way into the lounge that was open till 11pm. There was some light snacks on offer with soft drinks. I did stay at this hotel back in 2008 and recall the “happy hour bar” open till 11pm. After talking with a member of the lounge staff she confirmed that I was correct and they were told by Hilton corporate to stop beer/wine/spirits at 8/8:30pm. The good news is the Hilton Copenhagen Airport has not cut out spirits all together like some lesser Hilton’s in Europe has decided to do.

The first night in the lounge we were blown away by the great service from a member of staff; Anette, she spent over 20 minutes helping us plan out our day in the city.  Some really good insider tips, a marked a map up, and telling us what tickets to get for the metro that would save us money, and just truly cared about our time in her city. She was great! This hotel has a true treasure working as the food and drink rep in the lounge.

My room was also great the Executive plus room could be called a studio or Jr. suite, there was a large sitting area, desk area, a great bed, and a very nice size bathroom. As a Diamond the internet was free and fast but there is a fee for non-status guest. The room was very clean and it was clear that everything was placed perfectly. The little things like having the Hilton logo on the robe on display at the foot of the bed. The room was also very sound proof, I could see jets taking of and landing non-stop out my window (the airline geek in me loved this) but I could not hear a thing.

We had breakfast in the lounge the first morning and it was a very nice spread of food, good breads, and some hot items. Everything was fresh and good. The staff was great at keeping everything in order and the tables clean.

Taking the metro from the hotel/airport is so very easy and quick, from the hotel room to the city center was less than 30 min and that is with getting tickets for the metro. Taking the tips and map we got from the staff in the lounge we had a great day in Copenhagen, a great city to see in a day or two.

We made it back to the hotel just in time for the nightly happy hour service in the lounge with free Beer, Wine, and Spirits. The food selection was also great. The same helpful staff member ran up to us asking about our day. It was clear she cared and it was great to chat about our day with her. The Executive lounge is great at this hotel, the staff really was the icing on the cake.

The next day I had breakfast in the restaurant also included as a Diamond, and wow! What a great spread of food. There is a show kitchen were they will make you eggs to order. The staff was very good in the restaurant, I have to say it was one of the better Hilton Breakfast I have had in a very long time.

This airport hotel is lacking one thing! It lacks the typical airport hotel issues, the worn down rooms, the quick turn around attitude from staff and the lack of some inter-city hotel amenities. This hotel was like a 5 star hotel in a big city, great helpful staff, nice big clean rooms, great food, and really an ideal location for many travelers. This hotel is not cheap, but really nothing is in Copenhagen.

As many cruise lines use Copenhagen as a major port for the baltic cruises, and passengers start their vacation here, this hotel is ideal for you! Fly in, get a nice hotel steps away, easy access to the city center to enjoy for a day, then head back to this airport hotel and wake up to get your transfer from the airport to the ship.

I could not find anything wrong with this hotel, great place right inside the airport, opened back in 2001, making this hotel over 12 years old, but it still has the new hotel feeling. A very Scandinavian modern hotel that is a great pick for the Loyal Hilton guest ,business traveler or sophisticated tourist.

There is also a great Spa at this hotel, sadly I did not get time to check it out but I talked to some people in the lounge that had nothing but good things to say about it! The exclusive Ni’mat Spa (means “luxury in the house” in Thai) is located on the second floor, and is a fantastic oasis of calm offering a multitude of spa treatments and massages. Also, there is a nice heated salt water pool and an aroma steam bath – and Hhonors members have complimentary access to use these facilities.

Anette in the lounge is a real treasure. Maybe the best thing about the hotel.

I stayed there last weekend on a 5 day award stay. At checkin I was clearly told by the front desk staff that Hilton Honors Diamond members were not entitled to breakfast in the main restaurant and that they had to take the breakfast in the lounge. After an argument they reluctantly gave me the breakfast vouchers and admonished me that they we making a onetime exception.

The spa staff are a contractors and the spa (pool) are only open from 3pm-9pm daily. As a silver/gold/diamond member you are entitled to use the pool at no additional charge. All other guests in the hotel have to pay additional to use the pool. The pool is all stainless steel salt water pool and the temperature is very cool. It did not feel heated. To use the facility they require you to return to your room and change in to just you swim suit and hotel robe. you are not allowed in with any other clothing. The front desk clerk was very militant about it.

I was also on the twelfth floor but my room was right behind the elevator and the room was soundproof as far as the airplanes were concerned but the noise from the elevator was all night long. Be sure to get a room away from the elevator.

The hotel was severely impacted with cruise ship passengers. In addition, the hotel closed the lounge all day on Friday for a fashion show and then the restaurant without notice on Saturday evening because of a special event. We had planned to attend the normal special seafood buffet on Saturday evening and was quite disappointed that we were turned away from the restaurant.
