Two things you guys forgot about Alaska's awesome mileage program:

  1. Top tier elites (MVPGold) can change their itinerary with no change fee. You still pay the difference if the new fare is higher, but they don't charge you the $100 or $150 that other airlines charge.

  2. They do all kinds of cool special things for MVPGolds, like special dinners (they list places and dates on the MVPGold part of the website) with execs.

Also, it should be mentioned that Alaska's fare structure basically makes mileage running impossible, even if you live and travel around the Pacific Northwest.
