Last weekend I made a return long weekend trip to the Island of Malta, and was happy to get a great deal at the Hilton Malta. I booked during the Any Weekend Any Where sale at a rate of ~100 Euro per night. February is the off season in Malta, and I always find places more enjoyable in the off season.  The cost for sure was great, not only for this fantastic hotel but also flights on Air Malta and a rental car (mini SUV) for 4 days with insurance for $85 USD.

 Alaska and Delta have greatly expanded their partnership and frequent flyer cooperation and mutual benefits since Delta and NWA merged in 2008. However for the first time last week I received and upgrade to first class on Alaska using my Delta’s Gold Elite Status!  Back when NWA was around, I received upgrades on almost every Alaska Flight, however in recent years I have not been nearly as fortunate.

Well it is clear to must that United upgrade system is broken. Matthew posted about this a week or so ago. I’m also like Matthew and this UA knows they have problems and the fix it to make it harder to passengers to see “R” space on UA flights. “R” is the booking class that represents upgrade space from Economy to the next cabin level. If there is R space at time of booking and you try to upgrade it should clear right away, from what I can tell this works. BUT if ...

Most news regarding United lately has been almost uniformly negative both on this website and in other news reports.  From computer system failures, maintenance delays, and customer service snafus, it has been tough on United passengers, as well as employees.  I have experienced plenty of issues first hand, but I’m pleased to discuss a recent pleasant experience on United.
