Mayhem at Chicago O'Hare

My oversold 777 flight to SFO has been cancelled and it is not clear if I am going to get to LAX tonight. There's hundreds of people in line at the Customer Service desk and a snowstorm is imminent. Thank goodness for the RCC.

I'd be jumping for joy, if not for the fact that I have a morning flight to HNL on CO tomorrow from LAX.

I'll report back later.

The Battle for Haneda

As predicted, the battle for Haneda has commenced.   For those that don't know, Haneda is the second airport in Tokyo Japan.  Since the opening of Narita in the 70s, Hanada was limited to domestic flights and flights from neighboring countries.   Recently, a new ...

As fierce competition with Southwest and Frontier continues at Denver, United announced a First Class fare sale on flights to and from DEN today. That's certainly one way to distinguish UA from the LCCs.

Chatting with a United Pilot over a Beer at McCormick & Schmick's

Over the last couple months, United and other carriers have given out $20 McCormick & Schmick's gift certificates in their airport lounges. In the case of US Airways and UA, there is usually a stack of them sitting on the counter as you enter the lounge.

I picked up a few of them last ...

Feeling Stupid for Selling my United Airlines Stock

Remember my post two months ago where I meandered about whether to sell my United Airlines stock?

Free Custom Luggage Tags from KLM

A nice offer from KLM.

Throw away those boring luggage tags and give your baggage a new look by designing your own, unique tag. You can use a photo of your family, your favorite destination, or, to make it easier, you can choose from one of the images pre-selected by KLM.

Two tags will be made with your design to ensure you can easily recognize your bags among thousands of others. Or, you can give the tags to someone else as a gift.

Order as many sets as you want! Now why can't United make us some nifty luggage tags?

An Update on United Airlines' New One-Way Award Program

Last week I promised I would provide more details on United's new one-way award program.
Simply put, I like the new program.
Per my conversation with a reservations agent, stopovers will still be permitted on United roundtrips and Star Alliance awards--for now at least.
This means ...

East Coast Storm May Lead to VDBs on United...I Want In!

A Rundown of My Latest Mileage Run on United Airlines

I had the chance to join Lucky for some mileage running over the weekend and was able to snag a great fare to Seattle. The only catch: I had to get up to Newark or LaGuardia to start the run. I chose Newark because it was easier to get to from Philadelphia's 30th Street Train Station.
Saturday ...

Philadelphia to Moscow Domodedovo in United Business

Last weekend I did a United MR to Moscow from Philadelphia. While I could have flown to Geneva, Zürich, or Brussels for cheaper, Moscow was operated by a 767 with UA's lie-flat Business Class seats and I was able to confirm an upgrade immediately.
I will break the trip down into three ...
