Gosh... This post sure is overdue. It has been almost a year since my visit to the Taj Mahal and my epic trip to India / Thailand, and I can't believe I haven't taken the time to post about the experience earlier! The Taj Mahal is a tough place to visit. Getting to India is often difficult enough for Americans, but then once you're in India, Agra is not exactly convenient to most major cities. The closest city is Delhi, and it's about a two hour train ...

I really had a great experience on my short hop from Chennai (MAA) to Mumbai (BOM) on Kingfisher Airlines. I found the plane to be very clean. One refreshing thing about most of the Indian carriers is that even on their short haul flights around the country, they still serve a full meal in coach!
The meal I got on Kingfisher was some Indian gravy, rice, and a great mango juicebox! I definitely recommend Kingfisher when hopping around India. I think they're going to become even more popular for US travelers now that they're going to become members of OneWorld. Leg room seemed fine, but not great. Maybe a bit more than a typical Delta flight and nowhere near E+.

Austrian Airlines will be starting Vienna-Mumbai service this October and increase service to New Delhi from five to six flights per week.
I've never had a chance to fly Austrian Airlines (though I am considering a trip to Iraq with them) but I've heard some very good things about their service and would also love to return to India. LH F is LH F, but OS's two-class Business Class is almost like getting First Class for the price of Business Class.
Austrian also occasionally offers discounted Business Class fares on their intercontinental flights. I'll be keeping my eyes out for deals.
