Are you a museum aficionado? On September 25, more than 1,000 museums nationwide will offer free admission to celebrate Smithsonian magazine’s sixth annual Museum Day. You can search for participating museums and download tickets here. Each pass grants complimentary entry to two people, though passes are limited to one per household.

The Smithsonian museums in Washington are always free, but other museums can be quite pricy, making this offer very attractive. For ...

Finnair, the Finnish national carrier and member of OneWorld, is promising an unforgettable adventure for those who have October and November open and are interested in jet setting.

The airline is looking for four "independent advisors" to fly around the world for two months straight, sampling Finnair's service across their interncontinental route network and blogging, texting, and tweeting about it.

You've got a couple weeks to think about it: the application is not due until 26 September.

More details and application here.

I have always been intrigued by Fifth Freedom routes, especially by exotic carriers. Only a handful of these flights, however, are available in North America. Here is the current list (and please let me know if I have left any off):

Philippine Airlines flies between Las Vegas to Vancouver Cathay Pacific flies between Vancouver and New York Kennedy Singapore Airlines flies between Houston and Moscow, between Los Angeles and Tokyo, between New York Kennedy and Frankfurt, between San ...

US Airways is offering double EQMs and RDMs in select markets through the end of the year, including MSP, RDU, BOS, STL, RIC, and PIT.

This offer mimics promotions by Delta and American that began last month, with one exception. While the fine print of the AA and DL deals state that your trip must originate and terminate in one of the targeted cities (though Fozz has stated that double miles are accrued on all flights that either start or end in a ...

SN Brussels Airlines is offering a tremendous deal right now on economy tickets from Newark to Frankfurt via their Brussels hub. Many dates have already sold out, but try out different dates in October and November if you are interested. While $263 r/t is impressive, keep in mind that you can earn miles for cheaper on a well-routed domestic mileage run. But this is a great deal if you are interested in a cheap trip to Europe.

Though the flights are coded with SN Brussels flight numbers, they book on Continental and Lufthansa codeshares. Unfortunately, no non-stops on Lufthansa are available (that would allow you to use a United SWU to upgrade to business class). The fare earns 100% credit with UA, CO, and US.

The tickets only appear to be available on a few websites including Expedia's German website or Vayama.

I'm looking at a weekend mileage run Oct 15-17.

For a limited time, economy award trips under 700 miles in the U.S. and Canada are 30% off on United. These flights must be on United metal and be booked at least a week prior to departure. Only economy awards are discounted--first and business class will require the full amount of miles.

Both standard and saver awards are discounted, as are both one-way and roundtrip awards.

For example, a round-trip saver award under this promotion is 17,500 miles and a one-way saver award is 8,750 miles.

You must purchase before August 31 for travel before January 7, 2011.
