So this coming weekend, I have my whirlwind tour, that the only time I have to relax will be on my flights.  As I mentioned previously, I will be attending the One World Mega DO launch party hosted at the Andaz West Hollywood.  However, this weekend is also United's Family Day at the SFO maintenance facility.

As promised, here are my pictures from Sunday's Family Day Open House at SFO. I want to again thank Frank Dean for graciously extending me an invitation to the event and for all the folks at UA who made this day possible. Although I missed Jeff Smisek by about ten minutes, there was much to see, as the pictures below illustrate. I may not be a United employee, but as the days (and years) go on it sure seems like I'm part of the United family.

During the United Airline's Open House and Family Day the airline demonstrated an emergency escape slide deployment. For those of you who missed it, here is a very short video showing the 747 door opening and slide inflation. It all happens pretty quickly - too bad they wouldn't let us go for a slide.

 

 

 

Last week I attended United Airlines' fleet week at SFO which included a plane pulling competition. An Airbus A320, recently saved from TED hell, was on the apron with a long rope attached to the pull bar.

Along with 19 (26?) other FlyerTalk readers we lined up for a quick photo:
