Keeley Downing signature

I received an update from British Midland International (bmi) this morning on their acquisition by British Airways and move out of Star Alliance. Most of the news was expected, but I did learn two new things: first, bmi Diamond Club miles will transfer to British Airways Avios at a 1:1 basis. ...

Last Day to Burn bmi Diamond Club Miles on Lufthansa Group Flights

It's 6:00a here in Philadelphia and I still haven't gone to bed yet--I've spent the last three hours on the phone with British Midland International's Diamond Club award redemption center. My goal: burn my remaining miles in a cost-effective manner. So far, so good.

But that's not the ...

Best Strategies for Burning Your bmi Diamond Club Miles

With bmi poised to leave Star Alliance next week, those sitting on a mountain of Diamond Club miles would be wise to burn as many possible before 18 April. British Midland Yanks Star Alliance Silver Status from New Members

Last week, I blogged about British Midland (bmi) offering free Star Alliance Silver status to new members of their Diamond Club program. Apparently, that offer was not meant for everyone.

James, a reader of this blog, just forwarded me the following e-mail he received ...

1,000 bmi Diamond Club Miles for Completing Brief Survey

Although the offer appears targeted, take a moment to fill out a brief survey from bmi. It only takes about two minutes so even if you get passed over for the 1,000 Diamond Club miles, it is worth the small time investment to give it a shot.

In the survey, I urged bmi to bring to back service to Chicago and Las Vegas. Somehow, I think my request will fall upon deaf ears.

British Midland's Disgusting Award Surcharges

British Midland's (bmi) Diamond Club award program boasts on its home page, "Free airmiles. Free flights." After forking out over £1,100 (~$1,800) in taxes and surcharges for two business class tickets, I think it is an insult and a lie to call award redemptions on bmi ...

Hot off the press from bmi Diamond Club:

BMI Diamond Club to cease

Based on this thread on Flyertalk, it appears that BMI's Diamond Club will cease to exist in the next few days and be migrated to Lufthansa's Miles and More.

This is truly sad but honestly I can't say that I'm surprised.

Upgrd 53: BMI Diamond Club Gold Status

This is probably the shortest elite status podcast ever but we covered some listener questions about BMI Diamond Club. Since we recorded this last week there have been some changes - Fozz will be posting some updates on his blog about this soon.

This week we discuss BMI, their frequent flyer program, and why so many Upgrd contributors have BMI Gold status as one of their "backup" programs.

Please send in your comments about BMI's program or anything we missed or has changed.
