After weeks of back-and-forth haggling and the like, the Daily Yomiuri newspaper announced today (tomorrow?) that Japan Airlines (JAL) is leaving the Oneworld Alliance and entering into a relationship with Delta.

I'm trying to pack and get ready for a flight tomorrow, and I'm not someone who knows much about the dollars-and-cents side of the airline business. (My expertise is fast becoming airline food, not the intiricacies of route networks and code-sharing agreements.) So those ...

Note the original $1243 a/i price for this fare, which booked tickets into First Class on Qantas codeshares. I am usually really good at monitoring the Mileage Run Deals forum on flyertalk and have taken advantage of quite a few "sale" fares the last three years. I missed this one, unfortunately.   While United honored a "full-fare" Business Class ticket from LAX-AKL via SYD a couple years ago for $1800 r/t (normal price ~8-10X that) AA quickly announced ...

Three pictures today, actually. After seeing them, isn't it hard to believe to that no one was seriously injured in the accident?

I sat next to a UPS pilot on a PHL-IAD flight on Christmas Eve who occasionally flies to Kingston and he complained that the runway in Kingston does not have grooves on it, so when it rains the water begins to accumulate immediately.

Preliminary reports ...

Last week I blogged about an alleged altercation between an AA FA and and a First Class passenger on a flight from Sacramento to Dallas in which the FA accused the passenger of "threatening, intimidating, and interfering with a crewmember" after he asked for a glass of orange juice.

I thought the story sounded plausible, but I was happy to see the [ostensible] passenger involved in the incident provide further details on Heather Poole's galding.com blog. Among other things, ...

I am traveling to Alabama today and am taking two United Express flights to get there, one on Trans States and one on Mesa (aka Messy Air). Hopefully I’ll make it!

Actually, I agree with Gray’s assessment of travel on United Express (detailed in a humorous recount of his regional jet mileage run over at Wing and a Prayer). While it may not be First Class, I have never had a comfort or claustrophobia problem traveling in 12A on the ERJ-145, 9B on the EMB-120, or 1C/D on ...
