Turkish Airlines flies their 777 nonstop from Istanbul to New York. I'll probably win the award for slowest trip report written, but this is the conclusion to my earlier report from 13 months ago. I've typed up a few of my notes, but I'll mostly let the pictures speak for themselves.

For a person that normally flies United, it was a real shock to me that I would have to fly out of a different terminal in Kansas City. At the KC airport, United is in Terminal A, while American is in Terminal C. Looks like some of the changes they hope we are going to like are coming soon. United and Continental will be starting some European Cross-Fleeting. In June 2011 the cross-fleeting on European operation will begin, where some CO routes replaced by UNITED aircraft and vice versa.

I have flown Turkish Airlines (TK) a few times now, mostly short haul flights. I have always been pleased with my experience, and have been happy to get 2 free upgrades as a *G. I was once upgraded in the lounge on a Istanbul to Frankfurt flight it was clear this was an oversold flight and this was an operational upgrade. The second time was a Turkish domestic flight from Istanbul to Antalya, as I was boarding with a LH co-shared boarding pass the agent took some time to look at this pass ...

Back in May, Continental announced plans to begin non-stop service between Houston and Auckland in November 2011 on one their newly-delivered 787-8 aircraft. 

But if you've been reading the news lately, you know that Boeing has, well, run into a few (more) problems with their 787 program.
