Virgin Atlantic travelers can now use Twitter for up-to-date flight information.  In their official statement yesterday, Virgin said customers will receive the requested information "within seconds.”  It’s a painless process, just tweet @VAAInfo with your flight number and departure date in the format "VSXX DDMM."  For multi-leg flights add the airport code of your most recent departure city after the date.  Let’s practice.  Say I have a flight today from Miami (MIA) to Heathrow (LHR).  I would tweet “@VAAInfo VS6 1511.”  Done!

I’m glad to see another travel company turning to social media to simplify life and provide value for customers.

Hello!  All of you are familiar with my colleague Jamie Reese and her experiences on Delta.  Jamie had asked me to share a story with you about my recent experience with Delta, with the difference being that I have no status with Delta.

My First Tweet on Twitter

Social media tools have never really appealed to me. It took an impostor to get me to sign up for Facebook and I deliberately avoided other tools like Twitter and Four Square because I figured they would be to distracting in a day that already does not have enough hours. This morning I participated in a contest offered by Lufthansa. In honor of today's inaugural A380 flight (FRA-JFK), the “Catch the Crew” contest was a mini-Amazing Race/scavenger hunt through the streets of SoHo in Manhattan, NYC. The objective was to locate 10 out of 23 “crew members” dressed in Lufthansa gear and to collect corresponding “passport” stamps. Once ten stamps were ...

My last post got me to thinking about some of the major travel companies, and what they have to offer you for participating on Twitter, and also some of the blog writers that use Twitter to create a good feed for their posts.  Some companies have multiple Twitter accounts: some for brands, service, and deals.  Others have a single account that does a little bit of everything.  The hardest part is keeping track of it all.  Therefore, I am going to use this post as a ...

As everyone here at upgrd.com knows, Priority Club is one of the most generous hotel loyalty programs, with all of their great promotions that are stackable.  Of course right now everyone is in the middle of enjoying their Sweet Dilemma promotion, but they have also launched a Black Friday promotion, exclusively through twitter.  For each stay that includes a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night stay, you receive $50 credit that can be used on any airline.  The only catches ...
