It appears there are a few options for free onboard wifi this month.  Matthew previously reported about free wifi on Alaska.  According to a thread on Milepoint and a post by TPG, Diet Coke is sponsoring free Gogo for the month of August.

Simply enter the code DIETCOKEGOGO on Delta flights, and Gogo charges will be waived, up to $12.95.

Delta now offers Gogo wifi on 100% of their mainline domestic fleet, and are rolling it ...

Thanks to flight attendant blogger and frequent traveler Bobby Laurie for the tip that a Gogo Inflight Internet flight pass is $2 cheaper if you buy it on your mobile device first. The company's flight pass, good on any WiFi enabled device," lets you sign on and purchase on any device and then use it on your other devices, so you might as well buy it where it's cheaper.

Bobby discovered (we haven't had a chance to try this ourselves) that the $12.95 flight pass is just $9.99 if you sign up on your cell phone or tablet's web browser, and then you can use it on your laptop, too.

He suggests using the $2 savings to buy a can of Pringles, but I'll be using it to buy a snack for my next flight attendant!

The free GoGo Inflight Internet for the holidays we talked about last month ends in just a few more days; Google's generosity expires on January 2nd. Of course, many friends who've taken advantage of the on-board Wi-Fi have reported back -- as I speculated last month -- that it's been saturated to the point of ...

After a fun week at the Frequent Traveler Awards in Houston we recorded this flight attendant podcast with Shelby and MJ to wrap up the week and talk about some news. We discussed:

Google has subsidized the cost of Wi-Fi Internet access in airport terminals in the past, and we're pleased to see this year they're sponsoring free inflight Wi-Fi for the holiday season. As Matthew also reported, the company has announced that the Google Chrome web browser will offer free Gogo Inflight Internet service on domestic AirTran, Delta, and Virgin America flights from November 20th through January 2nd.

Dedicated road warrior can\'t even close the laptop while boarding!

So far, I haven't been very lucky in finding myself on aircraft with in-flight Internet access. Even if I were, I admit I'm a little put off by the price of entry, almost always north of $10 for a flight, unless you're willing to commit to buying several flights' worth of Internet access up front.

When I found myself on a US Airways plane equipped with Gogo Inflight Internet on the way home from California, recently, I briefly considered ponying up their $12.95 fee, then decided ...
