bmi Diamond Club redemption to Iceland and Georgia

I recently redeemed a chunk of my British Midland International (bmi) points for an intra-Europe award that includes Iceland and Armenia. The trip is coming up soon, but the more I think about the itinerary, the more I think my points and money would be better allocated elsewhere.

Last week, I blogged about British Midland (bmi) offering free Star Alliance Silver status to new members of their Diamond Club program. Apparently, that offer was not meant for everyone.

Every carrier levies some sort of tax on award tickets. Some levy more than others. Bmi levies a lot more. I was booking a ticket for a client ex-LHR to a warm destination south of the equator and ...

Hot off the press from bmi Diamond Club:

Now that bmi is a part of the Lufthansa group of airlines, we are evaluating being part of Miles & More in the long term. A final decision has not been taken and such a move would not happen in 2011. For the foreseeable future we are firmly focussed on ensuring that our Diamond Club scheme meets the needs of our loyal customers. Therefore we will continue to improve and develop Diamond Club. We will be launching Star Alliance ...
