I received an update from British Midland International (bmi) this morning on their acquisition by British Airways and move out of Star Alliance. Most of the news was expected, but I did learn two new things: first, bmi Diamond Club miles will transfer to British Airways Avios at a 1:1 basis. Second, and more importantly, Diamond Club and Executive Club members will soon be able to transfer miles between accounts.

It's 6:00a here in Philadelphia and I still haven't gone to bed yet--I've spent the last three hours on the phone with British Midland International's Diamond Club award redemption center. My goal: burn my remaining miles in a cost-effective manner. So far, so good.

bmi Diamond Club redemption to Iceland and Georgia

I recently redeemed a chunk of my British Midland International (bmi) points for an intra-Europe award that includes Iceland and Armenia. The trip is coming up soon, but the more I think about the itinerary, the more I think my points and money would be better allocated elsewhere.
