I was originally scheduled to be on a 2PM United P.S. flight from LAX to JFK last night. My upgrade was confirmed, and I was looking forward to peace & quiet, wifi, and a good meal. Instead, my plans changed. I had an awesome day of golf with my dad and brothers, but I had to take a redeye to New York.

If I need to work after a redeye, I refuse to fly into JFK. There isn't a shower there, and I don't feel like going to my meetings stinky with sleepy eyes. Alternatively, if I take ...

I was recently flying home after some work in the Dallas Fort Worth area.  My original routing was DFW to IAH to MKE.  Flying south to fly north, but it was the only way to get any mainline flights with a decent fare. 

I stayed at the Hyatt Regency DFW the night before my departure, which was a good choice, since the 6:40am departure was painfully early.  The line for security screening in the E terminal was quite long, stretching past the check in desks, but ...

Despite having traveled pretty extensively for the past ten years of my life, I have never yet been south of the equator! Taking a look at the map, it looks like the closest I've gotten is Krabi, Thailand and Chennai, India. That will all change in July. I'm off to South America for a business trip that will take me to Buenos Aires, Argentina and São Paulo, Brazil.

As I clean my desk, I've unearthed a stack of brouchoures for the new United Club Card.  These brouchers have a promotion code good for one free year, a $395 value.

I have nine of these, so as with yesterday's giveaway, i'll give these away on a first-come first-serve basis.   The codes do need to be redeemed by May 31st, which is a little over two weeks away.

UPDATE (5/18/12):  All the codes are now gone.

A little bit ago I received an updated eTicket receipt from United for a trip in Novemeber.  But I was a bit confused since this new itinerary was for a trip to Chicago and back and I had no plans (at least that I remembered) of going to Chicago.

After a bit of digging, I realized it was for a trip to Portland, OR.   What's interesting is that my routing had been EWR-PDX-ORD-LGA yet somehow the system thought I was going to ORD. 

So I rang the 1K desk and the agent was as perplexed as I was, but she rebooked the proper flights and had to wait for it to be reticketed.  Fortunately, since the wait was a bit long, she offered to call me back after getting it all resolved. 

In all my years as a CO flyer, I've never seen anything like this happen so this was definitely a new one.  So pay close attention to any updated receipts you get and make sure your destination is still the same. :)
