Delta, American, and US Airways all reported third quarter profits this morning. 

This is great news for all of you mileage millionaires since those miles represent unsecured loans to the airlines, and since higher profits mean a lower chance of default on those loans.  Of course, given that higher profits also mean that we are all paying more for our revenue tickets, this is not necessarily great news for everyone.

United has again captured the on-time arrival award for the month of September (88.9% of flights arrived on time), with US Airways (86.6%) and Continental (85.6%) close behind. Surprisingly, at least on first glance, Southwest Airlines finished last (75.8%) among major U.S. domestic airlines.
