I write this inflight on a Delta redeye from SNA to ATL, as today's flights turned into complete chaos when a surprise snow storm hit Seattle Sunday afternoon while Daniel and I were taking our mileage run.  We pulled out from the gate and then as we were about to taxi to the runway, they closed the runway because the conditions had deteriorated to the point where the runways were dangerous, and needed to be plowed.  So we returned to the gate, the delay grew until the point where ...

I just finished a mileage run to make UNITED 1K for next year. I was lucky to find a very good Business/First class fare on US Airways from Manchester, UK (MAN) to Seattle (SEA). I departed MAN on Friday on the MAN-PHL flight on a A330-300 in Envoy, followed by PHL-PHX on a A321 in First, and finally PHX-SEA on a A320 also in First.

When I booked this I was thinking how bad can it be? The last time I was on US Airways was back in 2000 on an old and run down B767 in Economy and ...

This could be my favorite hotel in the US, as I live in Europe I do not experience many US hotels. I have been a guest at the DoubleTree at SEA airport over 10 times now, and I have to say consistency is this hotels best trait and over the past 4 years I have been impressed with seeing the same staff over and over, the same and very good diamond VIP treatment and just overall room quality. The only thing this hotel needs is an executive lounge and it would be ...

When I talk to some friends and my extended family about my job, many of them assume that frequent travel is all about luxury travel.  As many business travelers know, that's far from the truth.  I certainly feel like I know how to be comfortable on the road, travel can lead to lots of headaches as well.  A recent trip was particularly memorable.

I was originally booked on United to Seattle.  My Skywest flight MKE-ORD  was significantly ...

As I was tipped off by somebody who works at Alaska, I noticed they had great $31 one way fares to SFO and LAX from SEA on 10.30 and 10.31. Needless to say, I booked two seats to SFO for myself and a friend and since it was within the 72 hour MVP Gold upgrade window I got two upgrades at purchase for myself and my companion. I added an e-cert and paid $40 in taxes. $20 for a first class ticket with less than 72 hours purchase? I am very impressed. These lows fares made me buy some tickets. If planes are empty the airlines might as well fill them. I mean, who doesn't want to hang out in San Francisco on Halloween and still be home in time for parties?

Unfortunately I upset Luckycoins because he thinks I could have done LAX for more EQMS/RDMS but not everyone flies with a companion who wants to milage run (there is no doubt that it is easier to get into the city from SFO than LAX).

:)
