As a number of United fliers are aware, March 3nd marks the day when United and Continental move to a single Passenger Service System or PSS for short.  Over the last few months, there has been a lot of animosity, particularly from the legacy United fliers about how awful this will be.   But will it really be that awful or is this the general over sensationalism that the legacy UA fliers are so keen on projecting?

I don't typically blog about my boring business travel. Every now and then there's something surprising like an emotional support dog or WiFi on a United filght, but today I just felt that not only was the service really great on the United (Continental) flight from Phoenix to Houston, but the food was also great as well. Combine that with the fact that the Continental 737-900 is my favorite domestic plane in the post-merger fleet. That makes for a bloggable flight.

I must say I did not think I would be posting a positive thing about this situation but I’m happy that it worked out. Back in December I booked a r/t flight from EWR-SEA on Continental.com, I booked at a contract Y fare, and got the instant Platinum upgrade on all the flights. EWR-IAH-SEA and SEA-EWR

Ouch! I haven't had this many consecutive upgrade-less flights since before I was a 1K with United four or five years ago.

CO Swiss Award Bookings

Swiss, Adria, and Croatia Airlines award seats are now bookable on continental.com, meaning that 26/27 Star Alliance carriers can now be booked quickly and easily online. Only Ethiopian Airlines, which joined Star Alliance last December, is yet to be added.

So far, the term "disappointing" has been pretty prevalent with the merger between United & Continental. From changing the benefits for everybody from Premier members to Million Mile Fliers, it has been expected that there would be more cuts to the COmbined carrier.
