Matthewlive and let's fly

Who needs United First when you have a LH Senator Lounge?!

Last week, for the second time since United's UDU program started, I missed an upgrade. It was a Thursday afternoon IAD-DEN (hub-hub) flight on a 757 and I was traveling on an S-fare, so it wasn't a big surprise that I wound up in row 16. And to be honest, I was very content in my exit row seat, which provided more legroom than any seat in First Class.

#2 on the list...

I had a feeling my upgrade would not clear, so I ventured over the Lufthansa Senator Lounge in the B-Concourse to have a lunch. Let's just say that was a wise choice...

Now that's what I call a good lunch! Who needs United First when you have a LH lounge nearby? From now on, I will dine in this lounge even if my upgrade has already cleared. There's no comparison to the delicious food that LH offers and the panini UA would have offered me had my upgrade cleared. LH wins hands down. With the LH Lounge at IAD now open at 0830, I have another reason to route through IAD!

I stopped by this weekend and was pleased to see the 8:20am-8:15pm daily hours. I went with the gummy bears & celery, breakfast of champions.

@Erich: The extended hours are great! Did they have anything more substantive for breakfast? Eggs and bacon?
