United International First Class Lounge at Washington Dulles

As I mentioned a few days ago, I somehow wound up in first class on my Washington, DC to Frankfurt United flight last week. An international first class boarding pass granted me access to UA's International First Class Lounge, located near the end of the C-Concourse at UA's aging Dulles hub. I spent most of the afternoon in the lounge and provide the following picture report to demonstrate that UA does offer a decent lounge product for their first class guests.

Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by an agent and my name was checked off a list at the matron's desk. At 12:45p, I was the only customer in the lounge and the food selection was untouched. I had just had a large breakfast and was looking forward to the dinner on my flight, so I didn't try much during the afternoon, but I did have a plate of fruit and veggies, a couple ramekins of mixed nuts (not warmed), and five bottles of San Pellegrino.

The food selection, as you can see, was nothing to scoff at. Fruits, veggies, shrimp, sandwiches and wraps, hot soup, plenty of sweets, cheese and crackers, sliced meat, sushi, and a full self-serve bar.

In the months to come, I will provide reviews of UA's International First Class lounges at San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York Kennedy.

Nice pics... I love it when I'm the only person in those lounges. Pretty good spread, similar to what I've had at SFO's.

Your experience is similar to my SFO IFL trip. Myself and another FTer were along for thirty minutes, until a man flying to NRT came into the lounge. Good food offerings, and a nice, quiet atmosphere!

I've got to say, being the only person in a lounge would feel extremely weird to me. I'm sure everyone else has been in enough crowded uncomfortable lounges to be happy with the solitude, but to be alone would feel really odd.
