My travels took me to Bermuda last weekend, thanks to a very low Delta Air Lines fare from Newark. Despite holding Delta Platinum status for a year (I have no status anymore with Delta), it was also my first time flying through Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport—back then I connected in Salt Lake City or Minneapolis only. Even though I was in economy class, the weekend made me realize that a lot is missing on United/Continental.

First, I had all ...

US Airways Inflight WiFi

Foul weather and a delayed Continental Airlines flight gave me the opportunity to sample US Airways yesterday from Philadelphia to Los Angeles. While I won't be defecting to US Airways anytime soon, the experience wasn't half-bad.

I flew on TAM from Frankfurt to São Paulo, São Paulo to Asunción, Paraguay, and Asunción to Santa Cruz, Bolivia. It was my first trip on TAM and I was impressed--I flew business class on ...

Marched off a train? Interrogated by ten armed men? Denied exit from an authoritarian country? Yes, I had another border “incident” over the weekend. As if Iran was not enough for one year, I ran into some problems at the Lithuanian-Belarusian border Sunday evening.

I had applied for a transit visa to Belarus weeks back. My understanding was that a transit visa allowed access to Belarus for 72 hours, full stop. What I was not aware of, was that the transit visa did not ...
