My Upgrade to "Business Class" on Singapore Airlines

I know many of you recently took advantage of the temporary glut of Singapore Airlines business and first class award space available to destinations around the world. From the dining room of my B&B in Dingle, Ireland I did as well, locking in first class seats to Melbourne, Australia for travel next spring. Yesterday, I received news of a welcome "business" class.

Not really, but I'll explain. Singapore Airlines has been unequivocal in outlining their plans to expand Airbus A380 service to Australia and just yesterday swapped out another 777-300 for an A380 on the Singapore-Melbourne route (starting on August 16, 2012).

Singapore's A380s do not have a first class cabin, instead they have a "Suites Class" cabin featuring SQ's spacious suite. Distinguishing these suites from first class, Singapore has coded this cabin as R Class. United mistakenly codes R as business class. Imagine my delight when I pulled up my itinerary today and found that I had been re-assigned to "business" class.

This is the quintessential example of why I love collecting frequent flyer miles. I look forward to flying in Singapore First Suites Class!

Nice! I'm hoping they will swap the 777 for the a380 on the Sydney route before the end on November so I can get a similar "upgrade".

Great stuff. Can't wait for the trip report on this one!

Wow amazing!! Lots of people fantasize about taking trips all over the world. While it’s nice to daydream about all the superb places to explore, all the most unforgettable vacations begin with proper planning and knowledge.

I think "R" fare is actually the Award upgrade.

Could be Tony, but all I know is that R = suites so I am excited!

Very nice photoshop on the picture above... and yes, of course, they will put on your ticket "business" (if this one is really yours) for their suites.
