CityJet Leaks Info, Eliminates Doubt on French Actor's Poor Behavior

Caution: Another story about a drunk Frenchman

Gérard Depardieu does not like to be kept waiting. The Golden Globe winner and Academy Award nominee also apparently enjoys alcohol. Throw in a flight delay and the combination becomes lethal.

It was Tuesday evening and Mr. Depardieu's Air France CityJet flight from Paris to Dublin was delayed by 15 minutes. As the plane pulled out of the gate, Depardieu signaled to one of the FAs that he needed to use the lavatory and he needed to use it now. The flight attendant responded that he would have to wait 15 minutes until after takeoff, just like all the other travelers.

But Depardieu is special, you see. So rather than waiting patiently, Depardieu unbuckled his seat belt, stood up, and relieved himself on the floor of the cabin. This was after he loudly shouted to the whole cabin, “I want to piss, I want to piss.”  The plane had to return to the gate for "clean-up on aisle five" and the 15 minute delay quickly turned into a 115 minute delay.

Brilliantly, CityJet knew this story would attract the attention of the news media and travel bloggers like me, so they made lemonade (not that kind) out of lemons and embraced the incident rather than attempting to downplay it. Take a look at two Tweets CityJet sent out:

CNN's Anderson Cooper also had some fun with the story, actually losing it live on the air when reading his line about how the cleaning crew “should thank their lucky stars this wasn’t De-part-two."

Oui oui Monsieur Depardieu. Thank you for giving a new meaning to the phrase "jet stream".

"Jean de Florette", "Return of Martin Guerre", "Tous les Matins du Monde" - when he was young, he was brilliant and maybe the best actor of his time. now he's just an ass.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've enjoyed several of his movies but will find it hard not to laugh at him when I see the next one.
