Matthew live and let's fly

I grimaced when I saw this thread on FlyerTalk today:

The FDA has changed the classification of LSG Sky Chefs' Denver facility from "Approved" to "Provisional" based on an inspection that turned up some real stomach turning findings, such as

Cart wash area - Live and dead roach-like insects too numerous to count (TNTC) Silverware station - At least 40 live roaches as well as other insects The hot kitchen - At least ...

A bit of pontificating from Dr. Klint

One of the perks of traveling is the chance to improve your communication skills. I’ve been forced to use my German twice this week in communicating with others who spoke no English in Spain and Morocco. It was tough trying to recall certain vocabulary and proper word endings, but I got by okay: we were able to communicate.

I also got a lot of practice with my bartering skills in Marrakech (I am sitting ...

Earlier this week I blogged about the TSA serving subpoenas to Chris Elliott and Steven Frischling, demanding that the two men reveal how they got their hands on the TSA security directive that went into effect after the Christmas Day terrorist scare.

Elliot reports that after communication between his lawyer and DHS, his lawyer recived this note:

It is currently 0250 on New Year's Day in Lisbon and I just got back to my hostel (rather early because of my morning bus trip) from New Year's festivities near the waterfront.

It's late and I don't want to bore with you an exasperated recount of my travels this year, but here's a quick recap:

January: LX Fare "sale" from YYZ-DEL for ~$300 r/t in C

February: Mexico City and FlyerTalk 1 from ORD-SFO with Captain Denny Flanagan

March: Two trips to ...

I was scheduled to take a bus from Lisbon to Algericas, Spain today and showed up at the bus station at 0830 for my 0900 departure. As I waited in line to pick up my ticket, I noticed that Seville (point of transfer) was not listed on the departure screen. I got to the front of the line and the agent nonchalantly informed me that the bus had been cancelled this morning and there was not another bus till tomorrow.

No compensation, no hotel or meal voucher, no skykits--just an updated ticket. Now I get to spend New Year's day on a bus and one less day in Morocco. Que lástima.
