Matthew live and let's fly

United is stepping up to help relief efforts in Haiti.

Starting Wednesday [yesterday], United Airlines plans to begin relief flights that will ship water and other badly needed supplies to earthquake-ravaged Haiti and return, red-tape permitting, filled with far more precious cargo: orphans.

The Chicago-based carrier plans to operate about 30 flights to Port-au-Prince over the next month to support global disaster-relief agencies such as the U.S. Agency for ...

United has really improved their BOB offerings over the last year. Adding tasty salads and sandwiches, vegetarian options, enhanced snack boxes, and premium alcohol has made UA the leading domestic legacy carrier when it comes to onboard dining in Economy, with the possible exception of Continental, which still offers complimentary meals on many flights.

My new favorite UA BOB product is mySmoothie, offered on most flights over two hours. The Swedish smoothies are tasty and healthy--often a hard combination to find. I have tried a variety of flavors and recommend the raspberry smoothie if you have a choice. For $3, you can't go wrong.

Kudos to UA for offering healthy food and beverage options, particularly the highly-addictive smoothies!

PASSENGER: Los Angeles.

UA AGENT: We don't fly to Los Angeles from Philly. You must be on ...

A full trip report (nine flights) is coming--and I brought my good camera on this trip. Here's a teaser picture from Morocco:

Against my better judgment (and the advice of Lucky), I booked a MR on United from Philadelphia to Moscow next weekend—out Saturday via Dulles, two hours on the ground in Moscow, and right back to Philadelphia.

I am sitting on quite a few vouchers from various sources, had no plans for the weekend, and most importantly, have two systemwide upgrades that expire at the end of the month. I looked into flying to Geneva—$130 less—but there was no confirmable upgrade space ...
