The free GoGo Inflight Internet for the holidays we talked about last month ends in just a few more days; Google's generosity expires on January 2nd. After you've had a taste of free Wi-Fi in the sky, will you continue to fly offline to save money, or will you spring for the full-price service so you can keep using it?
Of course, many friends who've taken advantage of the on-board Wi-Fi have reported back -- as I speculated last month -- that it's been saturated to the point of uselessness. No problem getting a tweet or two out, but if you want to update apps, download MP3s, upload photos from your vacation, or do any serious web browsing, you've probably found the service sluggish, to say the least.
Whether you're flying without free Wi-Fi, or making do with an extremely bogged-down connection, thanks to all the newbies hogging the available bandwidth by trying to Skype or by watching high-res kitty videos on YouTube, what do you do to keep yourself electronically entertained?
Are you watching DVDs on your laptop? Purchased or rented videos on your iPad? Playing iPhone games? (Please don't elbow the nice passenger next to you while zapping that zombie.) Reading books on your Kindle?
I'd love to hear in the comments what you've been able to do online from the air, and what you bring on your computer (or tablet or handheld or phone) to keep it, as well as yourself, busy through the flight.
Meantime, we've got some more free Boingo Airport Access passes for Tech Trebuchet readers.
