If you've ever wondered if the 'private flights' you see on TV and movies -- where the rich older men parade onto an elegant private jet with bevy of women, pop opens a champagne or an expensive bottle of wine, and they fly around the world.....were true or remotely accurate, the answer is yes. (This would be just one example though - as not all flights are like this.)
I know this because I work there -- and I love it.
I started my contract work with another company this past week and I knew that things would be a little bit different in regards to the service and the atmosphere I will be dealing with compared to the other flight departments I have been working with.
For one thing 90% of the time the guests are exclusively the top handful of executives for the company.
I am to familiarize myself with each and every executives' likes and dislikes -- my flight preparation started off by reading a 25 page profile.
The services are exactly what I expected -- covering all bases to a tee, and making sure ANYTHING they ask would be met with their expectations and beyond.
I understand that for some commercial flight attendants out there, all this just sounds headache inducing, and they would absolutely despise a flight like this. (As we used to say -- "how SPECIAL").
However, for me -- all of this makes for such a great, enjoyable challenge and can not wait until I am on my own doing the catering and maybe even baking for my guests.
I love the creativity that goes into making all of this happen -- you're allowed to do anything as long as you cover all the requirements.
I still have several flights to work before I can be 'released' to be on my own, and I am looking forward to putting my own spin on the services I will be doing.
Stay tuned, as I can not share any pictures of the actual plane, but will be able to show the ideas and the plating skills I will be using.
