I had to see it to believe it.  I landed at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson last week and as we approached the gate a Porsche SUV was at the adjacent aircraft.  A Delta agent quickly escorted a man in a business suit down the jet bridge stairway into the Porsche.  It happened so quickly the only thing I could confirm was that the man wasn’t Richard Anderson (Delta CEO).  I figured this was the only reasonable explanation for a luxury car whisking away someone ...

On my third day in Kauai I thought it would be an awesome idea to hike the north coast unreachable by car.  I read a great guidebook “The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook,” by Andrew Doughty that outlined the various trails on the island.  The Kalalau Trail running for 11 miles along with north coast looked the most appealing.  You drive north on Highway 56 through Ha’ena State Park until the road ends.  The trail starts there.

Next week I’m traveling to Hawaii funded primarily by frequent traveler rewards.  I know Christmas is peak tourist season in Hawaii, but the timing is unavoidable.  My motivation for choosing Hawaii is to see my alma mater, Xavier University, play in the ESPN Diamond Head Classic.  Who doesn’t plan their vacation around their favorite college basketball team??

Here is a breakdown of the frequent traveler points/miles redeemed to fund my 8-day ...

As a frequent Delta Air Lines flier, I have noticed a troubling phenomenon.  The planes equipped with TV’s for in-flight entertainment are increasingly being used to run advertisements during the pre-flight safety video.

It started a few months back with a short “welcome” clip from Delta CEO, Richard Anderson, played prior to the safety video.  I was confident his monotone voice and coached enthusiasm would be short-lived. I was wrong.  It was the ...
