Best Location-Based Flash Sale Websites

Unlike most people that spend the majority of their time in one place, I’m not home enough to commit to one hairdresser, gym, spa, etc.  The recent explosion of local flash-sale websites
has made traveling and exploring new places more affordable.  I subscribed to 20+ flash sale website and visit each one daily to determine the top ones.  Here are some of my favorites based on: availability in most major markets, reputable ...

Pan Am Goodness

"The way you walk, the way you talk, what you eat, how you speak,
how you put on your makeup and how you get out of bed — everything
changes," Former Pan Am Stewardess

I started watching ABC’s new series “Pan Am” last night andit got me thinking.  How did we get here? Not that long ago, during the Jet Age,air travel was a luxurious experience.  Apparently the nostalgia wore off.  Airlines have survived by raising ...

St. Regis Monarch Beach

39

With a $500 average daily room rate, this hotel hardly fits into my young business traveler theme.  If you know a young business traveler with a corporate budget allowing for frequent resort stays, please send me their contact info so I can send my resume.  Anyway, I recently attended a partner event at the St. Regis and was ecstatic to see the $190/night group rate.  The 40 hour stay will forever ruin my once modest hotel standards.

I was ...

Airlines Using Social Media to Win Over Frequent Fliers

FM1

Guest Post by Franklyn Miller...

Hello!  All of you are familiar with my colleague Jamie Reese and her experiences on Delta.  Jamie had asked me to share a story with you about my recent experience with Delta, with the difference being that I have no status with Delta.

So, a little about myself.  I’m a fierce Continental/United/Star Alliance flyer.  No matter where I go, even if it requires more flights (those Elite Qualifying Points add up you ...

TSA to Test Expedited Screening for Select Frequent Fliers

delta

I received an email from Delta today announcing the TSA test program for expedited
screening for frequent fliers launching this fall.  I hope this email means I’m on the list of Delta frequent fliers considered for this program, not just a mass email to all Medallion members.  The scoop for the test program is small, only frequent fliers from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Travel program, American Airlines, and Delta Airlines.  The test ...

Aloft Brooklyn Finally Opens!

Aloft Brooklyn Finally Opens!

When booking my hotel for NYC last week, I was pumped to see the Aloft Brooklyn finally opened!  The much anticipated June 9th opening marked the 42nd Aloft in the United States. The Aloft is truly "A Vision of W Hotel" without the W price tag. This property is no exception.

Located in downtown Brooklyn, the 176-room Aloft is in the heart of local action and two subway stops away from Manhattan. The modern loft-like ...

Young Business Travelers Guide to Austin

austin

I’m not going to lie; I lose some of my traveling enthusiasm when I see Texas on my schedule.  I’m not trying to ruffle the feathers of loyal Texans (I know, you love Texas), I’m just being honest.  Every state has its strengths and weaknesses, some more than others.  Take all the Texas stereotypes and throw them out the window… there is hope.  It’s Austin, Texas!

I have been to all the major Texas cities several times throughout my ...

Track Your Bags on Delta

Delta has quietly become the first airline to offer customers bag tracking capabilities.  You would think Delta would be alerting its customers to this awesome new service, but that's not the case.

Even though I rarely check bags, I couldn’t write an accurate blog without experiencing it first-hand.  I used my flight home from beautiful (insert sarcasm) Cleveland yesterday as my beta test.  I’m happy to report I tracked ...

Review of Aloft Downtown Dallas

 Aloft Downtown Dallas

When you enter Aloft you are greeted by a chic colorful environment. While the design is simplistic, the amenities and experience are not. This brand of hotels seems to attract younger business travelers; straying from your typical hotel experience. If you check-in at night you might mistake it for a club with the low lighting, loud music, and laughing patrons lounging on couches or playing pool.  I’m not sure whether this is a ...

Did I Just Give Up My Plane Seat for $150?

Delta Airlines has a new approach to handling overbooked flights--- have customers compete in a reverse auction.  I read about this back in January, but didn't have any personal experience until this week.  When I checked into my flight I was informed it was overbooked and asked to enter the amount I wanted to give up my seat. I remember the old days when airlines offered a round-trip ticket for enduring such hassles, so $250 seemed like a reasonable bid.  I was ...

High Like A G6?

The recent popularity of Far East Movement’s single “Like a G6” infuriates me.   I’m maintaining complete ignorance that they could possibly be referring to something other than physically getting high in the air due to flying in a G650. This leads to the source of my contention… the G6 isn’t even publicly available yet!  But Ke$ha is singing the chorus right? NO?!  WTF this is a terrible song. As a plane ...
