I'm traveling with my wife, Sara, for the next few days on vacation to Europe. Strangely enough, this is actually my first major award redemption in several years, and my first time traveling internationally with serious elite status. So naturally, I thought it would be appropriate to write up the whole trip here on my UPGRD blog.
As time allows, I'll do my best to post during the trip (as I write this I'm sitting in an airport lounge with my wife fast asleep next to me), and if time doesn't allow (I am on vacation, after all) I'll post more when I get home.
The general outline of the trip:
LAX - MEX in Mexicana business class, MEX-MAD in Iberia Business Plus, MAD-MXP in Iberia Business. One night at the Hilton Milan. Train to Venice. Two nights at the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice. VCE-MAD-LHR in Iberia Business. Three nights at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel London. LHR-MAD in Iberia Business. One night at the Holiday Inn Express Madrid Airport. MAD-ORD in Iberia Business. ORD-LAX in good ol' American Airlines domestic first class.
