Genethe mileage millionaire

DEQM and DRDM on American through March 31, 2012!!

Much to my surprise, American Airlines just announced double elite qualifying miles and double redeemable miles for flights between SFO/LAX and ORD/DFW.  You must register for the promotion and travel between October 27, 2011 and March 31, 2012.

The offer is only good for residents of California, Illinois, and Texas and only for round-trip or open jaw tickets purchased after registering for the promotion.

I usually take mile runs to Europe in January and February, but with no good fares offered yet this year, I'll be flying back and forth to Chicago for $199 round trip instead!  At 7,384 EQM per round trip between SFO and ORD, you can qualify for Executive Platinum in just 14 trips.  Total cost = $2,786, total qualifying miles earned = 103,376, and total redeemable miles earned (including 100% elite bonus for Platinum and Executive Platinum members) = 155,064.  That works out to 1.8 cents per redeemable mile, plus 8 system wide upgrades and all of the other awesome perks of Executive Platinum status.  Killer deal!

@Eric -- Oops! I'll correct my post. You'd think I'd know that after 5 years as an EXP!

Combine that with AA's attractive OneWorld DO promotion and this 1K is looking more and more about dancing with the dAArkside...

Thanks for sharing!! For about the same money you could do it with just 13 round trips, routing SFO-LAX-ORD-LAX-SFO on 8 of the 13 trips.

@Matthew: Unfortunately the bonus EQM from this promo do not count for the challenge being offered for the oneworld DO. Thus it looks like I'll be coming to visit you one weekend to complete my challenge.

Is it too late to "move"?
