Air France Lounge at LAX

The Air France Lounge at LAX is located in Terminal 2 where Air France’s non A380 flights depart, along with all KLM, Alitalia, and Aeromexico flights. The lounge is in the same location as the old NWA lounge and after Air France took it over after the NWA/Delta merger, all Air France did was clean it up a bit. Despite this, it is still far below the Air France standard found at other airports worldwide.

An Early Upgrade on Alaska

Traveling on Alaska as a Delta Elite has been great since the NWA merger with Delta. Premerger only NWA Elite Gold & Platinum passengers received upgrades on Alaska, but after the merger was completed and some technical issues were worked out, Delta and Alaska reached an agreement to upgrade each other’s elite passengers within the check-in window (meaning 24 hours before departure). My upgrade percentage on the Seattle – Los Angeles and Seattle – San Diego routes have ...

AA Upgrade List on the Mobile App

As a fairly new American Air flyer, I am still learning my way around the AA webpage and mobile application, being very different than both the data loaded United application that I love and the troublesome Delta app. I’ve started to navigate my way successfully between the AA’s recently redesigned webpage and mobile application. Yet, one thing I had the hardest time finding and understanding is how to find the upgrade list on the smart phone application. Therefore, I thought I ...

Delta's New San Francisco-Los Angeles Shuttle

Special shuttle flights between two major business centers is not a new concept and airlines have provided shuttle flights between large east coast cities for a number of years. Currently Delta and US Air offer shuttle flights that provide more amenities than a typical flight between two domestic cities and compete against major bus lines and Amtrak. Shuttle service typically offers hourly departure, or almost every hour, weekdays from 6am-7pm (and sometimes later)

Currently shuttle ...

Marriott Rewards Bonus Points: Targeted

For slightly over a year I have had Marriott Gold status, yet rarely check for specials or opportunities to maximize my points on hotel stays. Normally I just book my room and call it good, although this month, while traveling to and from Bangor, Maine I noticed a tab on the reservation page that read “Marriot Elite Specials”. I have noticed this page a couple of times before, but I normally ignore it. I find the specials usually listed to be not so special. The rates can ...

Downgrading Delta's First Class Offerings

Delta’s favorite commercial to play on board at 30,000 feet is the American Express Delta SkyMiles Credit Card. At the beginning of the commercial, a lady is walking through the airport and makes the statement, “Some say travel isn’t what it used to be, I say it’s what you make it” And she’s 100% right, travel is not what it used to be, and another example of this is the devolution of the domestic first class snack basket.

The inflight Delta snack ...

Downgraded by US Air During IRROPS

A few months ago, I flew to Europe using my United miles and had the opportunity to experience some awesome European Airlines hard and soft business class product. Despite this, on my return, I flew Lufthansa’s’ 747-8i to Washington DC and was supposed to connect to US Airways to Charlotte and then onto Seattle. Yet, due to irregular options (IRROPS), US Air rerouted on United from DC to Phoenix and then on to Seattle on US Airways. My entire flight was originally booked in ...
