Continental.com Glitch Shows United 1Ks as Presidential Platinum

Happy New Year!: Many United 1Ks were greeted with the following in the new year:

PresidentialPlatupgrd

Normally we're used to seeing our 'year to date elite miles' drop to zero but I was certainly surprised to see a status promotion to 'Presidential Platinum' elite.

This is a glitch that Continental is aware of and is working on fixing quickly, according to one of  the official "UA Insiders", Shannon Kelly, on Flyertalk.com.

Continental.com is currently displaying many United 1Ks as having "Presidential Platinum" elite status. Presidential Platinum elite status was earned by Continental Platinum flyers who had spent a whole lot of money on Continental tickets, say $30,000 in a calendar year. It by has been replaced by the merged carrier's "Global Services" status.

This short lived "promotion" is really just a cute observation of what can go wrong and is in reality meaningless as far as perks and benefits.  I would venture to say that most of us who got this recent 'status promotion' did not make that spend last year.

Enjoy the thought of it while it lasts folks! (It's probably already gone by the time many will read this!)

Nice Tom. I made a PDF of my Presidential Platinum card, while I still could. Not that its going to do me much good, but we shall see.
