Your know when you are an airline geek when....

usa319star_tailc Tomorrow is a big milestone for me, I will have flown on every Star Alliance airline based in Europe. This hit me when checking in for my flight on Aegean the newest European based Star Alliance member airline. I know it is a bit geeky to care about this but you are reading a blog about this so you just might be a geek as well.

I do not think anyone can dispute the fact that Star has the best coverage in Europe of any alliance. Sure they may have some small pockets of coverage issues in the Iberian region with the failure of Spanair, and in the UK domestic market with the departure of bmi; but only Star Alliance can take you to some of the more remote places in Europe. For example LYR, the northern most commercial airport in the world served by SAS; or TER, a small island in the Azores that is just amazing and so few people visit served by TAP; or KTT and end up right inside the Arctic circle and rent a snowmobile like you would a car anyplace else served by Blue1.

So have you been to any of the lesser known Star Alliance destinations in Europe? How many Star members in Europe have you flown? What is your favorite?

You doing SKG-FRA? I did this a few weeks back and enjoyed it. Nice little lounge in SKG and decent multi-course meal onboard (far better than Lufty C, IMO). Grab row one if you can or else you may not get your first meal choice.

Doing SGK to DUS, Eurowings to MAN. Looking forward to my flight on A3. I agree LH city line / regional is weak.

I've flown every European Star Alliance carrier as well (including Spanair). It's fun to compare the differences in the different airlines.

Sounds like you're on your way for getting the bonus points for flying the most star alliance carriers for their anniversary.
