I’m going to miss bmi! I knew it was coming but it was very sad to see the Star Alliance logo taken off the bmi webpage. I moved to the UK a little under a year ago, and bmi was my UK airline, connecting me to the rest of the Star Alliance network. My home airport is Manchester and Lufthansa had bmi operating some of their flights to FRA and MUC, these were true LH flights but on BD aircraft with BD crews. LH had flights to/from Berlin to London, and FRA to Birmingham also op’ed ...

You can read part one of my multi part trip report about my debacle on “The Worlds Leading Airline” United. Here
Now as we arrive in the Z gate area of Frankfurt airport I see a sea of people ahead of me, you can hear yelling and crying. I walk right into the mess and to my dismay it is right at my gate for my SFO flight. I was then approached by some contracted security person for UNITED that I recognize from past flights. This person was not with UA or LH but a ...
I had the misfortune of traveling on United Airlines for the first time after the “new” combined UA/CO system was put in place. I have been reading post on United’s facebook page, flyer talk and mainstream media about all the issues United was having with this “new” system. Reports of just poor customer service, odd things happing online, upgrades not clearing, massive delays and other issues just to name a few. I have been a loyal 1k with United for years and ...

I must say I did not think I would be posting a positive thing about this situation but I’m happy that it worked out. Back in December I booked a r/t flight from EWR-SEA on Continental.com, I booked at a contract Y fare, and got the instant Platinum upgrade on all the flights. EWR-IAH-SEA and SEA-EWR
Today I got an email from Continental that rebooked me on a new flight from IAH-SEA that was 6 hours later. I checked online and there was still a flight at 0930 but with a new ...
The other night I wanted to book a Star Alliance reward with my UNITED miles, so I called the 1K desk, I found the flights I wanted to get me from Manchester, UK (MAN) to Terceira, Azores (TER). I wanted to book MAN-FRA-LIS-TER and return, a reward within Europe for 25K miles. I wanted to route via FRA as my friend is going with me and he is based in FRA.
The UNITED agent told me routing via FRA would not work as I was “going to far out of the way” She added the ...

On August 1, 2012, Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) Airport will become the first airport in Texas to receive A380 service, when Lufthansa upgrades the aircraft type it uses to operate the Houston-Frankfurt flight. LH440. IAH will be Lufthansa’s fourth destination in the United States with A380 service.
The LH A380 will operate from Terminal D at IAH. Over the next several months, the Houston Airport will be renovating Terminal D to make accommodations to handle the extra-large aircraft.
There also looks like some good reward space in Y and C for this flight.
