Hilton Stockholm Slussen - A Review

hotelI was a guest at the Hilton Stockholm Slussen last weekend and I have to say I was very impressed with this hotel. This Hilton was once a Scandic hotel, back in the early 2000’s Hilton owned the Scandic brand and they converted many of the better Scandic hotels to the Hilton brand before selling off the other Scandic hotels. The hotel is much larger then it looks from the outside with different wings and really taking up a block of center Stockholm. The location is great, about a 8 min taxi ride from the central train stations and the Arlanda Express from ARN airport. You could walk it and it would be 20-25 min. One could also take the subway to the Slussen station and be right at the hotel.

I booked during the any weekend anywhere sale and got a very good rate for Stockholm. I was greeted at checkin by a very helpful staff member who went over all my VIP benefits as a Diamond. He also provided a card outlining all the benefits for VIPs. I did notice behind the desk they have cards like this for all levels. This is a nice little touch, it clearly outlined what you get. I was upgraded to a corner executive room with a very nice view of the lovely city of Stockholm. (Note Internet is free for all)

I n my room I found a voucher for a free drink and some local candies. Also two bottles of water was in the room. upgrd-0450

I ran down to the hall to the Executive lounge to get something to drink before they closed for the night. I checked in late so I missed the happy hour and finger foods. I did get a water and some sweets from the lounge. I also noticed a price list for cocktails for drinks outside the happy hours in the lounge.

My room was very Scandinavian lots of wood, crisp and clean. I did like the room decor but the bathroom was a bit too much for me. Lots of marble and woods, just not my style.

upgrd-2562In the morning I was able to eat Breakfast in the restaurant or the lounge as a Diamond.   I tried both and found both options very nice. At breakfast I did realize how big the hotel really was, it was a very busy place but the staff did a good job keeping up on the food and getting the tables cleaned. The greeter at the restaurant was very nice and did a good job getting people a seat without a wait. The food was very good!

After having a late lunch the next day and walking around the city I was beat and just hung out in the executive lounge. At 6pm the food and drinks got put out and it was a very nice little spread of cheeses, finger-foods and some hot options. There was also an open bar. The girl working the lounge was working so hard to keep up, the service was great but she could have used some help. At 8:30pm the free bar quickly closed up and some light cakes got put out. I then went to the bar to use my free drink voucher and also ordered a Burger and it was very good. The prices for food was not bad for Stockholm. Service and the atmosphere was very good, with a nice view of the city.

I do have to say the staff was great and helpful and made this 4 Star hotel really feel like a 5 star for sure. The last time I was in Stockholm I stayed at the Sheraton and the Hilton will be my hotel in Stockholm for sure. In the Sheraton I felt like just a number, but the Hilton did a very good job at making guest be at home. You can not find a better location in Stockholm to stay.

I agree with your assessments, this is a nice hotel. I always stay here when in Stockholm. Unfortunately the krona is so strong that everything in Sweden is expensive. = (

I really enjoyed this property when I was there in January, though the nightly rate was pretty high. Nevertheless, it was a great location, and my views across the river were very enjoyable!
