Hyatt Regency London “The Churchill”

I have been a Hyatt fan for a long time and I have always heard good things about the Hyatt Regency in London. My trips to London have been for business and the rates at the Hyatt were always out of what I could spend so I would pick the Hilton London Tower Bridge or Hilton Paddington; both very good hotels. After my stay at the Hyatt they were blown out of the water, just a really nice hotel. I should say I have very low expectations for any hotel in the UK, but in London I have ...

Review: Hilton Frankfurt Airport - NEW HOTEL - Many Photos

I was lucky to stay at the brand new Hilton Frankfurt Airport in Germany! WOW what an amazing place! When I walked into the lobby of the Hilton, I thought to myself this looks like a Hyatt. This hotel is upscale modern for sure, and is just impressive to look at. Hilton made a major investment here! The Sheraton should be very worried, and also get working on updating the rest of that hotel.

As I was a guest still in the opening days the hotel was not very full, and it was kind of ...

Texas is Getting Bigger Thanks to Lufthansa.

On August 1, 2012, Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) Airport will become the first airport in Texas to receive A380  service, when Lufthansa upgrades the aircraft type it uses to operate the Houston-Frankfurt flight. LH440. IAH will be Lufthansa’s fourth destination in the United States with A380 service.

The LH A380 will operate from Terminal D at IAH. Over the next several months, the Houston Airport will be renovating Terminal D to make accommodations to handle the extra-large aircraft.

There also looks like some good reward space in Y and C for this flight.

Just got word that Hilton Family Hotels will be having 2 winter time sales this year. They will be called the “December Sale” and the return of the “Any Weekend Anywhere” sale.

I’m told the Dec sale will start very soon and will cover stays into early Jan 2012. Then in Jan Hilton will kick off the Any Weekend Anywhere sale like last year, giving deep discounts upto 50% off on weekend nights for all of 2012. These will be prepaid rates that can be booked in Jan 2012.

Flying for Status on US Airways in Envoy. (Part 1)

I just finished a mileage run to make UNITED 1K for next year. I was lucky to find a very good Business/First class fare on US Airways from Manchester, UK (MAN) to Seattle (SEA). I departed MAN on Friday on the MAN-PHL flight on a A330-300 in Envoy, followed by PHL-PHX on a A321 in First, and finally PHX-SEA on a A320 also in First.

When I booked this I was thinking how bad can it be? The last time I was on US Airways was back in 2000 on an old and run down B767 in Economy and ...

Doubletree by Hilton Seattle Airport - Good pick for Hilton VIP's

This could be my favorite hotel in the US, as I live in Europe I do not experience many US hotels. I have been a guest at the DoubleTree at SEA airport over 10 times now, and I have to say consistency is this hotels best trait and over the past 4 years I have been impressed with seeing the same staff over and over, the same and very good diamond VIP treatment and just overall room quality. The only thing this hotel needs is an executive lounge and it would be ...

Lufthansa is growing in Berlin

This week Lufthansa announced that they will be growing in Berlin! The current service from Berlin on Lufthansa is mostly domestic routes, with other European being served by Star Alliance partners. This will all happen when the capital of Germany welcomes the new airport “BER” Berlin Brandenburg Airport 'Willy Brandt'. Lufthansa will start 30 new destinations from summer 2012. Lufthansa's Berlin fleet is set to grow from nine to 15 aircraft all Airbus, mostly A319 from the failed ...

So far impressed with US Airways today.

Hello from US 191 PHL-PHX, today is my first trip on US Airways in many years. I got a real good fare for R/T Business class from Manchester, UK to Seattle back in July for this weekend. A full review is coming but as I sit onboard this US Airways A321 with WiFi and so far very good service, I’m impressed! I do have to admit I had really low expectations. I will say the international meal was not bad at all, the crew was happy and funny.. but at times a little less professional then other airlines, the uniforms are a mess, I think one FA had a sweat outfit on with US Airways logos on it. The cabin of this A321 is very new and in good condition. The boarding process in PHL was something that needs help and the ground crew were just lackluster. There was a no-show in the F cabin and the head FA wanted to know who was next for the upgrade and the ground crew just did not want to deal with it. Good on this FA for making them find out and do their job.

Is Priority Club Platinum Status a Joke? I think so.

I got status matched to Priority Club Platinum from my Hilton Diamond Status a few weeks back. Tonight is my first stay in an IHG hotel, a Crowne Plaza in the UK.

All I can say is how can people be loyal to this program? What the hell do you get from being a Platinum? I’m currently top tier with Hilton and Hyatt; I have been top with Starwood in the past. So I have become used to great upgrades, free internet, Free Breakfast at Hilton and Hyatt, welcome amenities and ...
